Domain Expiration and Recovery Policy

This policy describes the lifecycle of a domain name following its expiration date, as well as the conditions applicable to its renewal and potential recovery.

Domain Expiration

The registrant is responsible for ensuring that the domain name is renewed prior to its expiration date. If the domain is not renewed in time, it will enter an expired status.

Grace Period

After expiration, the domain may remain in a grace period during which it can be renewed without additional penalties. During this period, the domain’s functionality may be interrupted or limited.

Redemption Period

If the domain is not renewed during the grace period, it may enter a redemption period. During this period, the domain may still be recovered by the registrant upon payment of additional recovery fees.

Final Deletion

After the redemption period ends, the domain enters a final deletion phase, during which it can no longer be recovered. Following this process, the domain may become available for registration by third parties.

Domain Functionality After Expiration

Registrar.pt reserves the right to modify the domain’s configuration after expiration, including suspension of services or changes to the domain’s name servers.

Renewal and Recovery Fees

Renewal of domain names after expiration may be subject to additional fees. Recovery of domains during the redemption period is subject to additional charges defined by Registrar.pt and/or the applicable registry.

Notifications

Registrar.pt may send notifications before and after the expiration of a domain name to the registrant’s email address. It is the registrant’s responsibility to ensure that their contact information remains accurate and up to date.

This policy is provided in accordance with ICANN’s Expired Registration Recovery Policy (ERRP).
